Die alpinen Offenlandschaften bilden wertvolle, schützenswerte Lebensräume und bieten Rückzugsorte für viele Arten. Veränderte Nutzungsformen führen jedoch fortschreitend zu Verbuschung und Verwaldung. So kommt es nicht nur zur Verringerung nutzbarer Weidefläche, sondern auch zu einem Verlust an Biodiversität.

Insbesondere gelenkte Weideführung hat über Jahrhunderte alpine Offenlandschaften geprägt und in Verbindung mit anderen Nutzungen hervorgebracht. Gezielte und naturschutzfachlich begleitete Beweidung könnte dazu beitragen, die alpinen Offenlandschaften zu erhalten und wiederherzustellen.

 

Als Partner des durch die EU-kofinanzierten interregionalen (Interreg Italia-Österreich) Projekts „WeideWert“ führt der Verein Hirtenkultur die Beweidung der Südtiroler Projektflächen durch.

„Weide Wert“ hat das Ziel, die gelenkte Weideführung mit HirtInnen als naturbasierte Maßnahme zur Förderung von Biodiversität, Weidequalität und Landschaftspflege in Südtirol und Tirol zu etablieren.

Für die Hirt:innen stehen dabei besonders die Erfassung zusätzlicher Arbeitszeiten im Fokus, die durch die gelenkte Weideführung mit dem Ziel der Entbuschung anfallen. Zusammen mit der Erfassung und Bewertung von Tierzustand und Tierleistungen sollen ökonomische Potenziale und Bedarfe der gelenkten Weideführung als Instrument der Landschaftspflege geprüft werden.

Biologen des Projektpartners B*coop aus Brixen führen auf den Projektflächen ökologische Begleitforschung durch. Vegetationserhebungen und zoologische Aufnahmen machen den Erfolg der gelenkten Weideführung bewertbar.

Erfahrungen und Erhebungen von Projektalmen des Landes Tirol liefern weitere wertvolle Perspektiven und Vergleichswerte für das Projekt.

Aufbauend auf den Datenerhebungen in Tirol und Südtirol, sowie unter Einbeziehung internationaler Expertise und Stimmen relevanter Stakeholder wird federführend durch Wissenschaftler:innen des Instituts für Regionalentwicklung der EURAC Research ein Umsetzungs- und Fördermodell erarbeitet, um die gelenkte Weideführung auf politischer, gesellschaftlicher und verwaltungstechnischer Ebene zu verankern.

Im Rahmen des Projekts veranstaltete Schulungen stärken das Bewusstsein für diese nachhaltige Bewirtschaftungsform und die grenzüberschreitende Zusammenarbeit ermöglicht den Austausch von Daten und Best Practices.

Le praterie alpine aperte costituiscono habitat di grande valore e meritevoli di tutela, offrendo rifugio a numerose specie. Tuttavia, i cambiamenti nelle modalità di utilizzo del territorio portano progressivamente all’incespugliamento e alla riforestazione. Ciò comporta non solo una riduzione delle superfici pascolabili, ma anche una perdita di biodiversità.

In particolare, il pascolo guidato ha plasmato per secoli i paesaggi aperti alpini, contribuendo alla loro formazione in combinazione con altri usi del territorio. Un pascolo mirato e accompagnato da misure di conservazione della natura potrebbe contribuire alla conservazione e al ripristino delle praterie alpine aperte.

In qualità di partner del progetto interregionale cofinanziato dall’EU (Interreg Italia–Austria) “WeideWert”, l’associazione Hirtenkultur realizza il pascolamento delle superfici di progetto in Alto Adige.

“WeideWert” ha l’obiettivo di affermare il pascolo guidato con pastori e pastore come misura basata sulla natura per la promozione della biodiversità, della qualità dei pascoli e della gestione del paesaggio in Alto Adige e in Tirolo.

Per i/le pastori/e, l’attenzione si concentra in particolare sulla rilevazione dei tempi di lavoro aggiuntivi derivanti dal pascolo guidato con finalità di decespugliamento. Insieme al monitoraggio e alla valutazione dello stato sanitario e delle prestazioni zootecniche degli animali, si intendono analizzare il potenziale economico e i fabbisogni del pascolo guidato come strumento di gestione del paesaggio.

I biologi del partner di progetto B*coop di Bressanone svolgono attività di monitoraggio ecologico nelle aree di progetto. Rilievi della vegetazione e indagini zoologiche consentono di valutare l’efficacia del pascolo guidato.

Le esperienze e i dati raccolti sugli alpeggi del Land Tirolo forniscono ulteriori prospettive e parametri di confronto di grande valore per il progetto.

Sulla base dei dati raccolti in Tirolo e in Alto Adige, nonché con il contributo di esperti internazionali e dei principali stakeholder, i ricercatori dell’Istituto per lo sviluppo regionale di EURAC Research elaborano un modello di attuazione e di finanziamento volto a integrare il pascolo guidato a livello politico, sociale e amministrativo.

Nell’ambito del progetto, attività formative rafforzano la consapevolezza di questa forma di gestione sostenibile e la cooperazione transfrontaliera consente lo scambio di dati e buone pratiche.

Alpine grasslands constitute valuable habitats worthy of protection. They provide refuges for many species. However, changes in land-use practices are leading to the Spreading of shrubs, bushes and forests. This results not only in a reduction of usable grazing areas but also in a loss of biodiversity.

Guided grazing has shaped alpine grasslands over centuries, contributing to their development in combination with other forms of land use. Targeted grazing, supported by professional expertise, could help to maintain and restore these grasslands.

As a partner in the EU co-funded interregional project (Interreg Italy–Austria) “WeideWert”, Hirtenkultur carries out grazing activities on the project areas in South Tyrol.
“WeideWert” aims to establish guided grazing with herders as a nature-based measure to promote biodiversity, pasture quality, and landscape management in South Tyrol and Tyrol.

For herders, particular focus is placed on recording the additional working time required by guided grazing aimed at shrub/bush control. Together with the monitoring and evaluation of livestock health status and performance parameters, the economic potential and requirements of guided grazing as a landscape management tool are being assessed.

Biologists from the project partner B*coop in Brixen (Bressanone) conduct ecological monitoring on the project areas. Vegetation and zoological surveys make it possible to evaluate the effectiveness of guided grazing.

Experiences and data collected on project pastures in Tyrol by the Project Partner Land Tirol provide additional valuable perspectives and reference values for the project.

Based on the data collected in Tyrol and South Tyrol, and incorporating international expertise as well as input from relevant stakeholders, researchers from the Institute for Regional Development at EURAC Research are developing an implementation and funding model to anchor guided grazing at the political, societal, and administrative levels.

Within the framework of the project, training activities strengthen awareness of this sustainable land management approach, and cross-border cooperation enables the exchange of data and best practices.
